Why STT News Exists

St. Thomas deserves better.

For decades, this island of 51,000 people has relied on a single newspaper for its local journalism. There is no broadcast television news. No independent digital outlet covering the stories that matter to the people who live, work, and raise families here.

That changes today.

STT News is an independent, digitally native news outlet built for St. Thomas. We are not affiliated with any political party, government agency, or special interest. We accept no government advertising revenue. Our editorial decisions are made solely by our editorial team, and we answer to one constituency: you, the reader.

What We Cover

We cover St. Thomas. All of it. Government and politics. Crime and public safety. Infrastructure — because when WAPA goes down, you need to know why and for how long. Education. Health. Business openings and closings. Community events. Marine and weather. The stories the legacy media glosses over, and the stories nobody else is telling at all.

How We Work

We combine experienced editorial judgment with modern technology to monitor public records, government press releases, court filings, weather services, and community sources. We publish news as it happens, not when the next print edition comes out. Every story is reviewed and edited by a human editor before publication.

Why Independence Matters

An independent press is not a luxury. It is infrastructure. When the government knows someone is watching, it behaves differently. When residents have access to verified information instead of Facebook rumors, they make better decisions. When businesses can reach their community through something other than a flyer on a telephone pole, the whole economy benefits.

We are not here to replace anyone. We are here because this community needs another voice — one that is not beholden to power, not afraid of controversy, and not going away.

Welcome to STT News.
